Husky / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Luna the Dog needs a home

LUNA

Breed: Agouti Alaskan Husky / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Female / Age: Approximately 3 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 50 pounds

Luna is an exotic and beautiful dog who loves every person she meets.  She is affectionate and will lean in for attention and love for as long as you will give it to her. Luna will bond deeply with whoever gives her attention and would do best as an only dog or possibly with another similar sized male dog.  She does do well with other dogs at the dog park.  Luna prefers people over dogs so when someone is paying attention to her she prefers to have you all to herself.  She doesn't like to share her toys and guards her food bowl, and she really doesn't like it if you start paying attention to another dog.

Luna will not do well in a home with another female dog because she is an alpha. However she lives at the rescue in a dormitory with several other dogs and does well with them until someone is paying attention to her and then she will growl to keep the other dogs away from you.

Luna would make a great running or hiking partner and needs an active home that understands the husky working breed.  She is calm and well behaved but willI need a secure yard and fence like most huskies.

Luna is smart and receptive and would do great with someone that can provide guidance and training to help her with over protection.

She is a playful and active girl that loves to swim and chase squeaky balls.  Luna was not scared by the loud noises on the fourth of July so she is not easily alarmed.   Despite her wanting all of your attention, she does play well with the other dogs so trips to the dog park would be great.

Luna has been at the rescue for too long and would make someone a great companion. She is loving and is ready for a new family to call her own.  Would you be that family?

NORTHERN BREEDS: All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit to check for appropriate fencing and, if needed, to offer tips on containment.  You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines, when you submit your application.

Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky or malamute you will need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost is approx $100) this is quite often needed to prevent digging, climbing or chewing through fences.  A hot wire is typically the best route to start with for proper containment and peace of mind.  Some of our dogs will require this fencing method, prior to adoption, knowing they have a history of escaping and will either jump or climb over your current fencing.  For most yards installation of a hot wire is simple and can be done in under 2 hours.

Northern Breeds are beautiful dogs but can have challenging personalities.  They can be demanding and very destructive by chewing or digging and if not exercised they may be hard to contain when their needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our website Home Page.

Pet Angels has a number of northern breeds available for adoption and you can see them all by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org.
